Squarespace is awesome. Check out their site if you haven’t heard of them before.
Basically it’s an web application that makes it extremely easy to build a great looking website. No coding is necessary unless you want to get fancy. They also host the site so it shouldn’t have a problem in case it gets fireballed. Plus, their support is great.
The font selector in Squarespace included a small selection of fonts from Google’s web font library, but I wanted one that wasn’t included by default. A couple of days ago I spent several hours figuring out how to do it. It was way easier than I expected. A couple of lines of code in the Squarespace tool and one line in the Custom CSS section. It worked perfectly.
However, I wanted to check out how different fonts looked on my site and going back and forth to change the code was a bit annoying. I wondered why Squarespace didn’t just build in all Google fonts straight into the tool. Two days later I got an email from them saying they’d done precisely that. Talk about timing!
Squarespace just keeps getting better and better. I don’t think too many people would be as enthusiastic about their hosting provider. And certainly very few would call them “awesome”. But Squarespace does deserve it. They are awesome.
