Merlin Mann on GTD in Back to Work #95 to #99

In late 2012, Merlin Mann and Dan Benjamin did a series of episodes of their awesome Back to Work podcast on the topic of Getting Things Done, commonly known as GTD by those that follow it.

I'm a regular listener to the podcast, but these specific episodes were published when I was away on holiday, so I missed them at the time. However, I saved them for when I had some time. Finally, I listened to them all and I'm glad I did. They are full of great information and as usual, Merlin delivered a lot of quotable pieces of wisdom. I wrote down a bunch of them and I'll be posting them here so I can refer to them later. Here's the first one:

The Inbox is promiscuous. You throw things at it … to the Inbox it’s like “hey, look at me, I’m a crazy drunk guy throwing ideas in the thing”. But then I’m going to process it. When I’m in my tightly wound mode I’m going to do that processing … Ideally, the more time you spend doing the stuff that matters, the better. But to know what matters, and to know what to do about it, you’re going to have to churn through that stack on a regular basis.

I love it. More to come in the next few weeks. If you haven't listened to these episodes and you're in any way interested in GTD, go check them out now.
